Up to $2,000 Given to Displaced Workers & A New RemoteCode™ Program That Will Prepare for Re-entry Into the Workforce

We Can Code IT, in solidarity with those who have had their jobs affected by the current state of emergency, has added $2,000 in grants and scholarships for displaced workers.

As Ohio and the entire world prepare to combat the spread of COVID-19, it’s impossible to ignore the effect these necessary efforts have had on the economy.  In our state, unemployment claims have skyrocketed as much as 2800%, as nearly 140,000 Ohioans in a wide range of industries have been affected by the stay at home order, and have been laid off in the past week.  Workers in a variety of positions have been classified as “non-essential” including hospitality, retail, and manufacturing. Those currently working in restaurants and bars,  and in beauty and barber shops, face an uncertain future, with no indication of when they may be able to return to work, or what the demand for their roles will be once the virus is contained.

While there’s no doubt that Coronavirus has changed, and will continue to change, the job market, a few industries are thriving. Demand for software developers continues to grow, as the demand for online services increases. Many industries are posting fewer job listings than they were this time last year, but listings remain stable at most larger tech companies.

Most of our partners at We Can Code IT are still hard at work. They’ve easily adapted to our new normal, transitioning to virtual work with more ease than others as they were uniquely prepared for this type of situation. The necessity of their work is on the rise, as there is a higher demand for remote and technical options to manage work traditionally done in-person.

There is an immense opportunity right now for workers to reskill, and prepare for this rapidly changing economy. The time to take advantage is right now! In order to help those hardest hit by COVID, and make sure they don’t have to wait until restrictions have been lifted, We Can Code IT is introducing RemoteCode™. Starting May 11th, 2020, RemoteCode™ is for those who need to prepare quickly to re-enter the workforce in a new, in-demand industry.

The 14-week RemoteCode™ program follows the same curriculum, teaching methodologies, and highly sought after technology that our in-person bootcamp teaches, but is delivered digitally to accommodate the current health and safety restrictions.  Students attend live class sessions, and pair virtually with their development teams, much the same way their counterparts already in the industry are working now. Our Student Success Team will also be working with students virtually throughout, helping them make those important industry connections remotely, ensuring students land their first role as a developer when they graduate.

Most importantly, we want to make sure this opportunity is accessible for those who need it most.  We’ve opened our grants and scholarships to those affected by Coronavirus, providing up to $2,000 of financial assistance to those who have lost wages or jobs during the crisis. Additionally, we have other funding options available, including Ohio Means Jobs, which may specifically provide assistance to those recently separated from their employer.

Now is the time to enroll and complete the training you’ll need to transition into a lucrative new industry!  Ready to learn more? Begin the application process today by clicking the button below!
